Comparison
Heard vs. SubmitHub
Straight up: these aren’t rivals. SubmitHub is a submission platform, and it’s good at what it does — in fact, a large share of the playlist curators on Heard are on SubmitHub, and we link their SubmitHub pages right on their profiles. The real question is what you do first with a small budget: buy pitches one at a time, or buy the map.

When SubmitHub is the right call
When you want a specific playlist curator to actually press play, SubmitHub delivers something direct email can’t: with premium credits, the curator has to listen, respond within 48 hours, and tell you why it’s a pass (per their site). That accountability is genuinely valuable, and it protects curators from spam, which keeps them responsive. Nothing on Heard replaces that.
Why starting with the directory makes more sense
The math: premium credits run roughly $1 each, so a $19 budget is about 10–20 pitches — each one a maybe-listen, maybe-feedback, maybe-add from a playlist curator. The same $19 on Heard is a year of unlimited direct outreach to 10,456 contacts— and most of them are people SubmitHub doesn’t reach at all: college and independent radio that actually charts indie records, venues that book unsigned bands, publishers, managers, sync supervisors, producers. Playlists are one channel. The directory is the whole map.
And the two stack: 886 playlist curators live on Heard with genre tags, activity signals and — where they have one — a link to their SubmitHub page. So the practical workflow is: filter the directory to curators who actually cover your genre and are still active, reach the ones with a direct submission path for free, and spend SubmitHub credits only on the targets worth a guaranteed listen. You waste fewer credits and you own the relationships you start directly.
