Hermosa Beach bar at 30 Pier Avenue that has showcased jazz since May 29, 1949, when bassist Howard Rumsey started a Sunday jam session and later formed the Lighthouse All-Stars, whose guests included Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan and Miles Davis. Today it runs live music daily, from jazz jams and a Sunday jazz brunch to reggae, salsa night and cover bands; it's 21+ except the brunch.
