Nublu Classic is the original Nublu room at 62 Avenue C in Manhattan's East Village (Loisaida/Alphabet City), part of the Nublu club and label founded in 2002 by Swedish-Turkish saxophonist Ilhan Ersahin. The intimate, late-night space grew out of a musicians' jam room into a celebrated hub for what's called the "Nublu Sound" — a multicultural mix of jazz, Latin, Brazilian, Afrobeat, funk, electronic and dance music. It has incubated acts like Brazilian Girls, Forró in the Dark and Wax Poetic and hosts the annual Nublu Jazz Festival, with recurring nights such as Latin Wednesdays and Producer Mondays.
