Merdekarya is a live music bar in Petaling Jaya, just outside Kuala Lumpur, at 352 Jalan 5/57, Taman Petaling, Section 5. It runs a Diner Bar downstairs Tuesday to Saturday and a Live Bar upstairs Thursday to Saturday, and its two standing open mic nights are the main way new acts get on the stage: a solo acoustic night with six fifteen minute slots, and a band night for duos, trios and bands up to five pieces with thirty minute slots, one booking per month. Both nights publish detailed rules, both prefer or require original material over covers, and both are booked through a real form on the site asking for name, stage name, email, contact number and setup, with a promised reply inside 48 hours. Promoters and artists who want a full ticketed show use the venue rental page, which lists a door split starting at 50/50 and rising to 70/30 for the organiser at 80 tickets sold, with a minimum ticket price of RM45. Current programming is on the site: The Merdeka Show 2026 has six acts booked, Ian Tai, Sharazade, Skies Are Red, The Fhase, Avurnsan and Hey Jay!, with early bird tickets on sale until 23 August 2026.
