West End Records is a storied New York City dance label founded in 1976 by Mel Cheren ('the Godfather of Disco') and Ed Kushins, intimately tied to the Paradise Garage and the rise of garage house. It helped popularize the 12-inch single and released era-defining disco/boogie cuts like Taana Gardner's 'Heartbeat,' Loose Joints' 'Is It All Over My Face,' Karen Young's 'Hot Shot' and the NYC Peech Boys. Acquired by Verse Music Group in 2010 (later BMG), the brand has been reactivated for reissues and catalog releases.
