VP Records is the world's largest independent reggae label, founded in 1979 in Queens, New York by Vincent 'Randy' and Patricia Chin (the name comes from their initials). A cornerstone of Caribbean music distribution and A&R, it releases reggae, dancehall and soca and runs the long-running 'Strictly the Best' compilation series, with global offices from Kingston to London and Tokyo. Its roster and catalog include Shabba Ranks, Beenie Man, Sean Paul, Beres Hammond, Sanchez, Gyptian and Jah Cure; VP Music Group also owns Greensleeves, Dub Rockers and 17 North Parade.
