Voices of Wonder was one of Oslo's most important independent rock labels, established in 1988 by Ketil Sveen and Dag Krogsvold and fronted by an intimate record store on Olaf Ryes plass that also imported Earache and Sub Pop releases. In the early 1990s it signed and developed Norwegian rock and extreme-metal acts (Motorpsycho, Enslaved, The 3rd and the Mortal) and distributed Euronymous/Mayhem's Deathlike Silence Productions. A late-1990s pivot toward dance and electronic music alienated its core audience; the company was renamed Voices Music & Entertainment (VME) in 2001 and Voices of Wonder now continues as a VME sublabel, with the operating business based in central Oslo.
