Tuff City is a New York City boutique archival label founded in 1981 by music journalist Aaron Fuchs. Originally one of the first labels to treat early hip-hop as historically significant, it has since shifted toward licensing and reissuing rare and unreleased blues, jazz, funk, soul, R&B, doo-wop and gospel recordings on vinyl and CD. It operates several specialist reissue imprints (such as Night Train International and Ol' Skool Flava) dedicated to rescuing obscure recordings from obscurity, and remains active as a vintage-music archival house.
