Topic Records is a British folk label that began in 1939 as an offshoot of the Workers' Music Association, making it the oldest independent record label in the world. It was central to the second British folk revival and has issued many of the genre's most influential traditional and contemporary recordings. Its roster spans artists such as Anne Briggs, Ewan MacColl, June Tabor & Oysterband, Dick Gaughan, Martin Simpson and Angeline Morrison. Distributed via Proper Music, the label continues to release and reissue British and world folk today.
