SST Records is the legendary American independent label founded in 1978 by guitarist Greg Ginn (of Black Flag) in Long Beach, California, having grown out of his teenage electronics venture Solid State Transmitters. It became one of the most influential underground labels of the 1980s, releasing foundational hardcore punk, post-punk, noise rock, and experimental records by acts like Black Flag, Husker Du, Minutemen, fIREHOSE, and Negativland. The label is still active and now operates out of Taylor, Texas, though recent output centers on Ginn-related projects; its catalog and merch are sold through the official SST Superstore.
