SM Entertainment is a South Korean entertainment giant founded in 1995 by singer-turned-producer Lee Soo-man, headquartered in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul. A pioneer of the K-pop 'idol' system and the Korean Wave, it handles artist management, music and content production and operates the SMTOWN brand. Its roster spans landmark acts and current groups including EXO, NCT, aespa, SHINee and others; it remains one of Korea's 'big' agencies and is publicly listed.
