Raster-Noton was founded in 1996 in Chemnitz, Germany, from the merger of Olaf Bender and Frank Bretschneider's Rastermusik with Carsten Nicolai's Noton archive, and became one of Europe's most revered hubs for minimalist experimental electronics, glitch/IDM and audio-visual art. In 2017 it split into two entities — Raster (run by Bender, now operating as 'raster' / raster-media) and Noton (Nicolai's output) — and the original raster-noton was renamed raster-media. The Raster platform remains active across vinyl, fine-art prints and merchandise, with current artists including Grischa Lichtenberger, Franck Vigroux, Atom TM and Milian Mori.
