Profile Records was a pioneering independent hip-hop label founded in 1981 in New York City by Cory Robbins and Steve Plotnicki. It became one of rap's most influential early imprints, home to Run-DMC (including the landmark 'Walk This Way' and 'Raising Hell') alongside Dana Dane, Special Ed, Rob Base, DJ Quik, Poor Righteous Teachers and Onyx. The label was acquired by Arista in 1998 and now exists only as a back-catalog imprint within Sony Music; it has no live official website (profile-records.com is dead).
