Plus 8 is a hugely influential Canadian techno label founded in 1990 in Windsor, Ontario by Richie Hawtin and John Acquaviva. Alongside Underground Resistance and Planet E it helped define Detroit techno’s “second wave,” giving early platforms to Kenny Larkin, Daniel Bell, Speedy J and Ken Ishii and releasing seminal work from Hawtin’s F.U.S.E. and Plastikman aliases. Named after the +8% maximum turntable pitch, its core run was suspended in 1997 but anniversary series and remastered reissues keep it active into the 2020s.
