No Masters is a songwriting and recording co-operative based in the north of England, founded in 1990 by John Tams and Jim Boyes to champion folk music with a radical, political edge rooted in working-class communities. Run by its own members, the label releases albums by artists who carry forward the protest and people's-tradition strands of British folk. Its roster centres on the trio Coope Boyes and Simpson alongside acts such as Chumbawamba, O'Hooley & Tidow, Commoners Choir, Narthen and Maddie Morris. Still active today, it remains a small but distinctive home for politically engaged English folk song.
