Murderecords is the Halifax-born independent label founded in 1992 by the band Sloan, originally to put out their own Peppermint EP before expanding into a roster of Maritime and Canadian acts. Through the 1990s it became arguably Canada's best-known indie label and a key engine of the Halifax alt-rock scene, releasing records by Eric's Trip, Thrush Hermit, The Super Friendz, The Inbreds and a young Buck 65 (as Stinkin' Rich). Rooted in alternative and indie rock, the label is most active today as the home for Sloan's own catalogue, operating out of Halifax and Toronto.
