Mille Plateaux (record label)
Frankfurt · Germany · DE
Mille Plateaux is a German experimental electronic label founded in 1994 by Achim Szepanski in Frankfurt as a sublabel of his Force Inc. Music Works, named after the Deleuze and Guattari book 'A Thousand Plateaus.' It became a cornerstone of 1990s/2000s glitch and minimal electronic music, especially through its 'Clicks & Cuts' compilation series, with associated artists like Oval (Markus Popp), Alva Noto (Carsten Nicolai), Mouse on Mars and Taylor Deupree. The label folded in 2004 when Force Inc. went bankrupt but was later revived by Szepanski; he died in September 2024 and the label remains active online.
