Megaforce Records is a legendary American independent label founded in 1982 by Jon and Marsha Zazula specifically to release Metallica's debut, going on to issue some of the earliest records by Anthrax, Overkill, and Testament and helping ignite 1980s thrash metal. Based in New York City (with Philadelphia ties) and distributed by The Orchard/Sony, it focuses on hard rock and heavy metal. Its roster history and current catalog include Metallica, Anthrax, Porcupine Tree, and partner releases via Music for Nations. It remains active, running a news section and merch shop.
