Kill Rock Stars is a fiercely independent label founded in 1991 in Olympia, Washington by Slim Moon (with Tinuviel Sampson), originally a cornerstone of the riot grrrl and Pacific Northwest punk underground. It became famous for early Bikini Kill and Bratmobile releases and for issuing Elliott Smith's defining records, and today runs a wide-ranging indie/punk/alternative roster spanning Kate Nash, Peaches, Shamir, Big Joanie, and Linda Perry. Now based between Olympia and Portland, Oregon, it remains active.
