Goner Records is an independent label and beloved record store in Memphis, Tennessee, started in 1993 by Eric Friedl (now co-owned with Zac Ives) to put out underappreciated music, beginning with Japan's Guitar Wolf and local acts the Oblivians and Reatards. It champions punk, garage rock, and increasingly post-punk and synth-oriented bands, while the store stocks everything from Memphis rap and soul to blues and international music. Goner also runs Gonerfest, the long-running four-day Memphis music festival held each September. The label and shop are very much active.
