Freedom From is a Northeast Minneapolis-based underground label founded in 1996 by Matthew St-Germaine, dedicated to the international noise, weird, and experimental-rock underground. It began as a cassette-only operation (notably an infamous Thurston Moore/Beck/Tom Surgal tape) and put out some of the earliest releases by acts like Hair Police, Sightings, Reynols, and Cock E.S.P. After a post-2006 hiatus, the label fully returned in 2012 with limited-run cassettes, lathes, and vinyl, with planned releases from Brian Chippendale, Aaron Dilloway, Weasel Walter, and Chris Corsano. It maintains an active Bandcamp and SoundCloud presence.
