Favored Nations
Encino · California · US
Favored Nations is a guitar-focused record label founded in 1999 by virtuoso Steve Vai with Ray Scherr (former owner of Guitar Center), originally based in Encino, California. It built a catalog of more than 70 albums by elite instrumentalists and guitar heroes, spawning the Favored Nations Acoustic (2002) and Favored Nations Cool (2004) imprints for fingerstyle and jazz-leaning releases. The roster reads like a guitar pantheon: Tommy Emmanuel, Eric Johnson, Steve Lukather, Larry Carlton, Billy Sheehan, Andy Timmons, and more. Still active, the label now operates as an imprint within the Mascot Label Group (partnered 2017).
