ESP-Disk' is the fiercely uncompromising New York label founded in 1963 by lawyer Bernard Stollman, famous for documenting free jazz that no one else would record, from Albert Ayler and Sun Ra to Pharoah Sanders. Under its motto 'the artists alone decide what you will hear,' it also released underground rock acts like the Fugs.
