Electric Honey is a Glasgow student-run record label, founded in 1992 by Alan Rankine of The Associates and now steered by music-industry veterans Ken McCluskey (The Bluebells) and Douglas MacIntyre (Creeping Bent) alongside students on the music business course at Glasgow Kelvin College (formerly Stow College). Famously dubbed by Uncut as the most successful student-run label in the world, it launched early releases by Belle & Sebastian (the original 1,000-copy pressing of Tigermilk), Snow Patrol and Biffy Clyro, and has since spun off the electronic imprint Gdansk and the world-music imprint Root 8. Its catalogue leans toward Scottish indie rock, pop and singer-songwriter material, more recently championing newer acts such as Be Charlotte, Pronto Mama, The Shambolics and The Moondials.
