Crass Records

Crass Records was the independent, fiercely DIY label founded in 1979 by the English anarcho-punk collective Crass, based at the Dial House open-house community near Epping, Essex. Set up so the band could retain total control over their output, it became a hub of the anarcho-punk movement, releasing stark, politically charged records with distinctive collage artwork and pacifist/anarchist messaging. Beyond Crass's own albums it issued records by Honey Bane, Zounds, Flux of Pink Indians, Rudimentary Peni, Conflict, Omega Tribe, Poison Girls, Anthrax, KUKL (featuring a young Björk) and others. The label is long defunct, having wound down in the mid-1980s.
