Blackened Recordings is the independent record label founded by Metallica in November 2012 after the band left Warner Bros., created to own and release all of their past and future recordings (audio and visual). The band reacquired the rights to its entire studio catalog, reissuing it through the label, with releases like Hardwired… to Self-Destruct (2016) and 72 Seasons (2023). Distribution has run through Warner's Rhino in North America and Universal internationally; the label is operated as part of Metallica's own organization and its catalog lives on metallica.com.
