Atco Records is an American label founded in 1955 as a subsidiary of Atlantic Records, originally created as an outlet for productions by Atlantic co-founder Herb Abramson and for acts that didn't fit the parent roster; the name is a contraction of 'Atlantic Corporation.' Over the decades it released landmark recordings by The Coasters, Bobby Darin, Sonny & Cher, Buffalo Springfield, Cream, Otis Redding, AC/DC and Pantera. After long periods of dormancy under various Warner imprints (East West, Elektra, Rhino), Atco was relaunched by Atlantic Records in early 2020 and remains a Warner Music Group/Atlantic imprint.
