City of Toronto arts funder whose Music Creation & Audio Recording programme gives practising professional artists grants for writing and producing original music in any genre, in one of three categories a year: Creation (up to $10,000), Recording - Demo/EP (up to $8,000) and Recording - Full-Length (up to $15,000). Music videos, professional development, touring and travel, and costs incurred outside the City of Toronto are not funded.

Who can apply — in their words
You must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident (Landed Immigrant) or have an application pending for Permanent Resident status. You must be a current resident of the City of Toronto who has lived in the City for at least one year prior to making this application. Note: A Post Office Box address cannot be used to meet the residency requirement. You must be a professional artist who has maintained an independent practice for at least one year. The applicant must be the originator/composer of the majority of the material for the recording.

APPLICATION DEADLINE SEPTEMBER 3, 2026. Artists may only apply to one category per year. Categories may not be combined. Music Videos, Professional Development and Touring/Travel expenses, and expenses incurred outside the City of Toronto are not eligible for funding. Potential applicants from equity-seeking communities are encouraged to discuss their eligibility with the Program Manager in advance of submitting an application.
