Winnipeg-based organisation, funded by the Province of Manitoba, with a set of music funding programmes for local musicians and music businesses - Produce, Produce Out-of-Province Artists, Promote, Perform, Build and Indigenous: IMPACT. Its Produce Program supports recording at three levels: a demo or single (up to $2,000 or $3,000), an EP or album of five or more songs (up to $10,000, 75% of budget) and six or more songs (up to $20,000, 60% of budget), with tracking or mixing at an accredited studio or with an accredited mix engineer, assessed by jury.

Who can apply — in their words
The applicant must be an artist who is a Manitoba resident. The contact person can be a representative of the artist (e.g., manager, label, grant writer). A Manitoba resident means an individual who is legally entitled to be in Canada, to work in Canada and to remain in Canada, is currently a resident of Manitoba and has been for not less than three hundred and sixty-five (365) days prior to the date of application to Manitoba Film & Music.

Applications are taken in dated rounds, not year-round — the dates below are the ones they publish.
PROGRAM DEADLINES: May 21, 2026 at 5 p.m. September 17, 2026 at 5 p.m. January 21, 2027 at 5 p.m. Applications submitted to the Produce and Produce Out-of-Province Artists programs are evaluated through a jury process. Applications to the Promote, Perform and Build programs are evaluated by MFM based on project development plans, track records, touring schedules, strength of support team, distribution plans and/or business viability.
