Canadian Starmaker Fund

Fund created by Canada's private radio broadcasters with the Canadian Independent Music Association and Music Canada (formerly the Radio Starmaker Fund), which has received over $175 million from private broadcasters since 2001. It provides touring and promotional support to emerging Canadian artists, plus seed funding through its Orion program, and is dedicated to the English-language music industry; French-language artists have the equivalent Fonds RadioStar. It decides applications in numbered rounds at board meetings.

What it funds
Who can apply — in their words
To qualify for funding you must be a Canadian who has attained a track record in your existing career. You are a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant/permanent resident. You have attained a sales level on a release in Canada that satisfies the minimum Track Record requirement for your genre of music but has never sold more than 150,000 equivalent units. You are signed to a Canadian major label or a Canadian-owned independent record label, or you own your record, and you either release it on your own or license it to a Canadian company.

Round 97 - Application Deadline September 24, 2026, Board Meeting November 3, 2026. Round 98 - Application Deadline February 25, 2027, Board Meeting March 23, 2027. Round 99 - Application Deadline May 27, 2027, Board Meeting June 22, 2027.
