The Arts Council of Wales, a registered charity, says it helps people to make, present and exhibit the arts. For individual musicians its funds include Creative Practice (£500 to £10,000 for creative experimentation, professional development and new ways of working) and Create and Engage (small awards up to £10,000, large up to £60,000), alongside Research and Development and Creative Steps, which funds the development of artists who have experienced barriers to careers in the arts. It has offices in Cardiff, Carmarthen and Colwyn Bay.

What it funds
Who can apply — in their words
Individual artists and creative professionals working in the arts can apply. Those eligible to apply include but are not limited to: Musicians, composers and music creators. Examples of creative practitioners we can't support include: Commercial professionals. e.g. designers or retail-focussed makers, musicians making commercial music. Please note - The aim of this fund is to support the development of your creative practice and not commercial activities / ventures. You must have a track record as an artist or creative professional in one of the areas we support.

There are two deadlines for Creative Practice. You need to allow a minimum of ten working weeks between the deadline date and when your project starts. Wednesday 20th May 2026. Wednesday 9th September 2026. All deadlines are 1pm on the dates stated. We can't fund projects that are already happening. Awards are between £500 - £10,000. You can request up to 100% of your project costs.
