Wacken Open Air
Wacken · DE
Metal festival held in Wacken, Germany, and run by WOA Festival GmbH. It is unusually direct about how bands get on: it says it receives hundreds of applications every week, that in most years 100% of the bands that play were contacted by the festival itself, and that a standard application has little chance, pointing bands instead at the W:O:A Metal Battle, which it calls the biggest metal band competition in the world.

Playing this festival
This festival does not book from unsolicited applications.
Please note that Wacken Open Air receives hundreds of applications every week - and in most years 100% of the playing bands have been contacted by us. A classic band application has little chance of success with us. But there is one exception: The W:O:A Metal Battle, the biggest metal band competition in the world. You want to play at Wacken? Please apply with your band to the battle.
