Monkey Week SON Estrella Galicia is a Spanish showcase festival and professional meeting whose whole premise is discovery, summed up by its own line, discover tomorrow's music today. It is produced by La Mota Ediciones from El Puerto de Santa Maria in Cadiz province and pairs a PRO network programme for industry with showcase billings for emerging acts. The reason it matters to an artist is the showcase circuit, which the festival calls its core: sets are short, focused 45 minute presentations played to festival programmers, labels, booking agencies and media rather than standard concerts, and more than 1,600 bands and solo artists have played them across sixteen editions. Entry is through the Call for Showcases page on its own site, which hands off to an application form. There is a dedicated address for music-industry professionals, separate from the public one.
