Manchester Jazz Festival, known as mjf, is the city's longest running music festival and one of the few UK jazz festivals that programs a large share of its bill from an open artist call rather than agents alone. It spreads across city center venues for ten days each May and runs its own commissioning and development strands, mjf originals, mjf hothouse and mjf soundcheck, alongside a piano trail built with Forsyth Music Shop. The 2027 edition runs 21 to 30 May 2027. Artist submissions open for roughly four months after each festival, and the 2027 window closes at midnight on Friday 11 September 2026 via the festival's own submission form.
