Angrajazz

Angrajazz is the international jazz festival of Angra do Heroismo, a UNESCO world heritage town on Terceira in the Azores, and it has run every October since 1999 around the 5 October holiday. It happens inside the Centro Cultural e de Congressos, a converted bullring whose 550 seat semi circular auditorium is set up as one large jazz club with the musicians close to the audience, and Portuguese critics have repeatedly named Angrajazz concerts among the country's best of the year. The 2026 bill runs 2, 3 and 4 October with the Orquestra Angrajazz playing a Miles and Gil program, plus Leila Olivesi Octet, Pedro Neves Quarteto, Tyreek McDole Quartet, Aaron Parks with Walter Smith III, and the SFJAZZ Collective. The festival is run by the non profit Associacao Cultural Angrajazz with the city council. There is no public open call, so artists write to a general address or use the Fale Connosco form on the contacts page.
